Becky Jackson - calling for artists to exhibit in museum

WinterFest exhibition aims to depict Brightlingsea’s hopes and dreams

A call is going to people of all ages to submit pieces for Brightlingsea WinterFest’s open art exhibition, taking place at the town’s museum.

The exhibition, happening at the beginning of February, is being organised by artist Becky Jackson, a member of the WinterFest volunteer crew, and will help to highlight the wealth of creative talent in Brightlingsea.

Becky said: “We welcome people of all ages and all abilities to take part in what will be a special open exhibition. Arts and crafts in all media will be featured, up to A4 size.

“Paint, draw, collage, sculpt, photograph, however you like to create, we want to see it. Let’s come together to showcase the creativity of Brightlingsea and celebrate ideas from across our whole community.

“Individuals, families, schools, community groups, clubs and organisations are all warmly encouraged to take part. I will be holding workshops in the community and work from these events will be on show at the exhibition, as well as pieces submitted by individuals.

“WinterFest’s theme for this year is The Next Wave, as the festival enters its second decade. The exhibition will take this theme as its inspiration and we would love people to depict Brightlingsea, our hopes, dreams, our future and also create work featuring the sea.”

The cost of exhibiting is £3 for adults, children can enter free. Work needs to be submitted by the end of January and can be delivered to Brightlingsea Museum on Saturday January 24th or Tuesday January 27th between 10 am and 12.30pm.
