Lit Fest finale will be a sparkling evening

A sparkling evening of poetry, prose and prosecco, along with some music, will provide a grand finale for this year’s Brightlingsea Literary Festival.

The event is being held on Saturday, March 15 at Thames Estuary Lobster Hatchery in Brightlingsea, starting at 6pm and will feature members of Brightlingsea’s BrightWords Creative Writing Group and guests.

Ruth Loten, organiser of the evening said: “We are looking forward to a really entertaining event, based on the theme we have chosen for this year’s festival, Heroes and Heritage. Members of the BrightWords group and other locally-based writers will be presenting some of their work and we have also included some music.

“This will be the final event for this year’s Brightlingsea Literary Festival, which is now in its third year and runs alongside Brightlingsea WinterFest, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. We are delighted that the Literary Festival has been such a success and has included a launch event featuring BrightWords members, an art and writing workshop for children, a wellbeing writing workshop for adults, an open day with activities at Brightlingsea Museum and a Spooky Tales short story competition, which had a brilliant response.”

At the Poetry, Prose and Prosecco evening guests will be provided with a glass of prosecco, or orange juice, on arrival. Under 18s are welcome, but will require a ticket and some readings may not be appropriate for young children. The bar at the Lobster Hatchery will be open on the evening.

Tickets are priced at £10, from Little Boat Gifts in New Street, Brightlingsea. Enquiries can be e-mailed to brightwords.essex@gmail.com.
