A donation from Brightlingsea WinterFest has funded a facility to help support the mental health of the town’s residents for a year.
The £1,239 donation given to Mid and North East Essex Mind this year will fund its Welcome Café, which operates from Brightlingsea Community Centre on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 10 – 11.30am.
The money was raised during the February run of WinterFest events, with thousands more going into our Wellbeing Fund, which also supports local residents and organisations.
Mind says the café provides a “warm safe place for individuals in our local community to connect with others and reduce isolation and loneliness”. One attendee said: “If it wasn’t for the Welcome Cafe, I would have nothing. They actually get me out of the house. I look forwards to coming to the group and seeing everyone.”
Thanking WinterFest, Mind said: “Thanks for being part of our community of people who want to help offer hope and support for good mental health, to ensure no one feels alone.”
