The Winterfest team are delighted to announce our first Open Art Exhibition, taking place in Brightlingsea Museum over two weekends: 22nd Feb-2nd March from 11am-4pm.
We would love Brightlingsea residents of all ages and abilities to enter one piece of their own art or craft. We want to especially encourage you if you never shown your art before in a gallery. So come on, don’t be shy! The theme is ‘This Makes Me Happy’ and your artwork can be created in any medium but must be your own original work.
We also warmly welcome everyone to come and visit the exhibition during the two weekends that it will be open. Refreshments will be available and art works will be for sale, with something for everyone!
Categories
Entries categories are: eight years and under; 9-13 years; 14-17 years and 18-plus. Prizes will be awarded to the most original art or craft entry in each of the under-18 categories.
Further Information
Wall- hung pieces can be no larger than A5, around 18 x 23cm framed, with a strong fixing on the back or frame for hanging with a loop or string attached. No clip frames please.
Craft/3D pieces should fit within a 12cm cube and be durable enough to be on display and safely managed. No food or other perishable materials please!
All artists may offer their work for sale and 20% commission will be donated to the WinterFest Wellbeing Fund. A voluntary entry fee of £3 for over 18’s entries is also welcomed when you submit your work – also to be donated to the Wellbeing Fund.
The aim is not to select artwork. Instead, we want the exhibition to be as inclusive as possible for everyone. Due to the smaller size of each entry, we will be able to show a much greater number & range of pieces, so we are aiming to include all your lovely entries, subject only to display capacity being reached.
To take part, download an entry form and label. Remember to clearly state your name, age if under 18, the title of your work and a price if for sale. Otherwise mark it NFS – not for sale.
Bring it with your artwork on: Wednesday 19th February 2025 at Brightlingsea Museum between 10am-1pm. Collection Day for sales money or unsold work will be Tues 4th March 10am-1pm. If you really are unable to make these times & days, please contact Nicky Sheales to make other arrangements.
